NEW DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP - A 12 MONTH PROJECT
I’ve just launched a new workshop, based on a street / documentary project, undertaken over a 12-month period, on the subject of the English seaside. It begins with an intensive 3-day workshop in Blackpool in September.
This may appeal to street photographers who . . .
feel they have reached a plateau with their work
would like to work on a structured project to produce a meaningful body of work
want to introduce strong story-telling or narrative into their work
would like to focus more on documentary photography
need to be inspired and nudged out of their comfort zone
This is not an introductory workshop and we won't be covering the basics of street photography. It is assumed that participants will already be street photographers who are familiar and comfortable with the genre.
You will follow the creative journey of a substantial project - from concept to book. This assignment-based workshop is the start of a year-long creative investment in a substantial street / documentary project with a tangible output: the production of your book. The date of the initial workshop is 25-26-27 September 2020 (and If social gatherings still not allowed by this time, the workshop will be rearranged in spring 2021 at a time which suits all 6 participants).
Core elements of the project:
A series of coursework exercises to complete prior to the workshop
Participation in a 3-day workshop in Blackpool
Working in your own (in any English seaside town) to add to your body of work
2x Zoom conference calls with Brian after 4 and 9 months
Production of your book - ideally by September 2021
There's lots more information on this page - and do of course contact me if you have any questions. I launched this last night and immediately took two bookings - so I expect demand to be high.
